Information about Czech and Slovak Association, Inc.

Our goal is to bring Czech and Slovak communities together, find a permanent place, where we can all meet, help each other, exchange information, organize cultural events including performances with artists from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, etc.

We are non-profit organization with 501 (c) (3) status. We are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers or gifts. Contributions to us are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code. You can view our 990 Form at www.guidestar.org.

Our Association was created in March 2004 by three founders, Estera Mlch, Renata Dutton, and Maria Grantham. It was the year when Czech Republic and Slovakia became members of the European Union and Boston Red Sox became the World Champions.

We have since organized number of cultural, social, sport, and educational events to promote, and preserve our Czech and Slovak heritage, and to introduce it to the American public in the New England area.

The concerts of the Czech bands as Chechomor, Ivan Mladek Bango Band, three generational band Olympic, Petr Kotvald, and Plastic People of the Universe together were highligts of our activities. Plastic People of the Universe play important role in Tom Stoppard's Rock'n'Roll that was shown in Boston, San Francisco, New York City's Broadway, but also in Prague and London.

From Slovakia - Misha - singer with many music awards, performed in Boston/Somerville, as well as the Coca-Cola Pop Star Bystrik. They brought something special and unforgetable to our audience. Harvest Fest with traditional folk band Pajtasi, and dance group Limbora brings the ethnic athmosphere, and is becaming our most popular annual event.

In addition, we organized Slovak Art Days, Exhibit of Jozef Gertly Danglar, and provided many networking opportunities through the years. We keep in mind the traditional family days throughout the year by organizing International Children's Day, Easter, Christmas, and New Year's Celebration . We had an opportunity to present our culture, history, customs, and people at the Boston Neighborhood Netwrok TV (BNN TV) to the residents of Massachusetts.
